I have known for a while that tech editing is a perfect career for someone who wants to take control of their time and still earn money without retiring.
I started 12 years ago when my full-time job was becoming a bit unbearable, I would come home and just knit or crochet, that was my way to relax.
I always had an eye for detail and regularly spotted mistakes in books and magazines and it was via a chance conversation that I realised that what I was doing (checking patterns before I made something) was actually a job.

Tech Editors Checklist - You Can Use This To Make Your Own!
Using my checklist you can make sure you have covered every check required on any assignment, which will help build your reputation. Use during a discussion with the designer to agree on what will be checked. For example, they may not want you to check charts if they have produced them from software.

Planning & Estimating Template
Keep the stress levels down! Carol is not a great organiser (as Paula will vouch for) but she has come up with a simple template using spreadsheets to keep abreast of what work is coming in and when it needs to be completed.

The self-study videos and resources are available for one year after purchase, the section called 'Assignments' doesn't have an expiry date so you can continue to access your certificate once you graduate.
Doesn't everything that appeals to us sound too good to be true?
We are not offering a get-rich-quick business, we are not offering an easy laid-back self study course that you can pay little attention to and just pass at some stage... no!
We offer you the opportunity to learn from the best in the business, and yes, you will have to complete assignments and have them marked by Carol - the only way to graduate is to give the assignments your best shot!
That certificate at the end has Carol's name and business on it, she won't give it away easily...
You will only have access to Module 1 of the course for the first 2 days after enrolment.
If you change your mind or have realised by looking at Module 1 that this isn't for you, you have until the end of Day 2 of your enrolment to email Paula at [email protected] for a full refund (even if it's 11.59 pm - please still email)
This must be done before Day 3 starts as ALL modules will open then and no further refunds will be available.
The videos are all manageable chucks that you can squeeze into a lunch break, kids' nap time, or even while cooking dinner!

As each assignment is marked, you will have my direct feedback on each. I don't just give you a sample solution - I comment on each query or comment you have made in a tech edit.
I will not pass an assignment unless it is up to scratch!
